You often ask us if a kid suffering from atopic eczema can wear our Merino clothes.

And we can happily say – definitely YES!

Atopic eczema is a chronic health condition that cannot be cured. It is caused by family dispositions and the manifestations may vary for everyone.

But let's stay positive – this skin disease can very often change with the rising age and the symptoms can get weaker or completely disappear.

Signs of atopic eczema can be itching, red skin and changes on the skin. The skin can be dry (almost scaly) and the eczema fields can fester, and it can be quite rough for adult, let alone the little children.

We can very often find eczema on cheeks, neck, elbows and knee dimples but also elsewhere on the body.

TRIGGER can be any unfamiliar substance or provocative factor. The main ones are:

1. SYNTHETIC FABRICS

2. HEAT

3. CLEANING PRODUCTS, COSMETICS, PRODUCTS FROM THE DRUGSTORE

4. CERTAIN TYPE OF FOOD

The third and fourth points need to be individually observed. Every child/adult is different, and it can take a while to discover what makes atopic eczema worse and what should be avoided in your case.

You can easily influence the first and second points yourself. Already guessed? The title of this article can give you a hint – it's the 100% Merino wool! We use only the finest Merino that is made especially for us at hosieries, considering the sensitive skin of people suffering from eczemas. This is one of the most important reasons why we are working with 100% merino wool without any additives.

Are you now thinking that we only brag about the facts? Not completely. We have personal experience with atopic eczema – I was measured 6 times higher than the norm and so naturally I could expect that even my children can inherit a higher risk of having atopic eczema. It happened with my younger daughter who began to show dark red cheeks approximately at her 6 months. Later, we discovered festering fields in the poplits and then the eczema spreads to arms and other body parts. We tried to fight it in many ways – mostly with ointments. We had to cut off some kinds of fruits, sweets, chocolate and it took a while until we've found washing gel that doesn't irritate it.

In the summer, my daughter couldn't sleep because wherever she was sweating, she began to appear bad festering fields. It was painful and itchy. During the day we were able to distract her attention, but the nights were hard. Many of you who have children suffering from this type of eczema know that this fight isn't the easiest.

Do you know what the doctors usually will tell you? “Wear cotton clothes, but NOT WOOL!” Oh, those old stereotypes! Yes, we must agree that a thick and scratchy sweater from the ordinary “fake wool” would do no good to a person with atopic eczema. But only a few doctors will tell you about the miracle that can help you prevent the eczema! Usually, they only prescribe you ointments... What a pity!

Our 100% Merino wool (I intentionally say “our”, because there are many manufacturers on the market, but we have never seen a finer merino wool than ours!), thanks to its thermoregulation offers PREVENTION AND TREATMENT of eczema thanks to:

  • THERMOREGULATION – NO OVERHEATING
  • BREATHING – IT IS COMPLETELY BREATHABLE – eczema can also breathe
  • TAKES AWAY MOISTURE from your body AND THANKS TO THAT THE ECZEMA IS DRY AND IN A PLEASANT CLIMATE
  • IT IS ANTIBACTERIAL

According to our personal experience, we value our summer thin Merino for wearing as a first layer all year long and as the only layer in the summer. Since my daughter started sleeping in merino, her skin and eczema got a lot better and the eczema fields on her body have recovered – there were no new ones appearing since then! Of course, we continue to avoid some foods, we wash our clothes using a hypoallergenic gel and we moisturize her skin. But thanks to the Crawler Merino, we got rid of the sleepless and itchy nights and finally we can all sleep well!

Therefore, don't be scared to dress our merino wool even if your kid has atopic eczema. We recommend trying our summer thin Merino first and see for yourself.

Finally, we have a review from parents with a little child suffering from atopic eczema. They decided to purchase our Merino wool and wrote us this lovely comment:

„Thank you for the Merino. I can say that suit our son very well. In fact, he wore it for a whole week, every day and he never complained about any itching. So, I would say that it helped him. As he didn’t sweat, he didn't get any rash on his skin. So thank you very much."

You can try our sleeping sets T-shirt and leggings or our jumpsuits.
